Six Habits Of Successful Real Estate Agents (and Entrepreneurs)

There are Six Habits Of Successful Real Estate Agents (and Entrepreneurs) that must be developed if you truly wish to reach your potential and live the life you desire and deserve to have. There is no magic pill to success and fulfillment; instead, it comes through practice and repetition until these success habits become almost automatic. We are a product of our rituals and, unfortunately, most people perform their rituals unconsciously. Now you can make them conscious. And when you do, you become successful.

Goal Setting

The first habit seems obvious – though a lot of people don’t like to do it or don’t follow through on it. Every morning, take 3 to 5 minutes to write out your top goals – the ones that light you on fire – but do so in the present tense (this is critical). You can grab yourself a special notebook for this task. By writing out your top goals at the start of each day, you’ll begin to program them deep into your subconscious mind. This will activate your brain. It will stimulate your mind and make you more aware. Throughout the day, you will see opportunities and possibilities to have what you want that you wouldn’t even normally see.

Intention Setting

Take a few minutes each morning, to set an intention for what you would like to experience throughout the day. Focus more on the emotions or feelings you would like to have rather than specific outcomes. You can proliferate this by planning out your activities for the day. Make it a priority to work from a list. Be sure to put in in writing. This is one of the most powerful and important habits for achieving peak performance.

Focus on Value

Decide on your most important tasks for the day and when you’re going to accomplish them. When it comes time to perform the task, decide to work single-pointedly on your that task to the exclusion of everything else. This will, in turn, increase your efficiency and productivity and will contribute significantly to the quality of whatever it is that you’re doing. The result? You fast-track your journey to success and fulfillment.

How you use your body is critical to your mental and emotional state and therefore your decisions, actions, and quality of those actions. By having the discipline to exercise regularly and to eat a well-balanced and water-rich diet, you will give yourself the advantage of optimizing how your body and brain function. It is equally important to pay attention to how you move as well as your posture. Practice paying attention to any tension in your body, your breathing patterns, how you stand, how you sit, etc. Aim for powerful, decisive movements that allow you to feel positive and strong, centred and calm.

It has been repeatedly said – and it is very true – that if you’re not growing, you’re dying. Your mind is akin to a muscle. What happens if you don’t purposefully exercise and strengthen a muscle? It falls into disuse. It begins to atrophy. Your mind is much the same. To achieve a true sense of success and fulfillment, you must consciously make an effort to learn every day – in real estate, in communication, sales, health, relationships, spirituality, etc. You must grow beyond who you were yesterday.

Make Time

The quality of your life is in direct proportion to the quality of your relationships. Look around. You can be financially thriving, but bankrupt in your marriage. You could be tremendously successful, but missing our on spending time with your kids. In climbing the ladder of success, make sure it’s not leaning against the wrong building. Schedule time into your day – right into your daytimer (even schedule it into your iPhone) – for those close to you every single day, regardless of busy you think you are. When all is said and done, and you’re 90 years old looking back on your life, what’s going to matter most? The money you made or the relationships your nourished?
